Crokinole came to Ystrad Mynach for the first time at the weekend. This quiet village in the Welsh Valleys played host to the second leg of the UK Crokinole Tour.
We welcomed players from as far afield as Nottingham and Spain, including the Spanish Champion Antonio Cuaresma. He had flown in from Seville just for the tournament.

The event ran smoothly. The round robins went to form, with the exception of newcomer Dan Rowe, who pipped James Temby for the final play off place in group A.
Side pots were claimed by Sam Robinson, Mark Thomas and Mike Ray.
In a reversal of this year’s Harrogate final, an “on fire” Tom Curry triumphed over Mike Ray. Barely missing a shot, Tom won 12 points to 2 in a one-sided game. Mike seemed slow to recover from his nerve-wracking semifinal triumph over Brian Cook.
The Noble Coin has moved on. It will reappear in St Albans on December 2nd!
Many thanks to my wife Tania, Helen and James Temby, Dan “Doc Crok” Sockett and Joe Tegeltija. I couldn’t have run the event without you!
